Question by inseeisyou: How do you tell an adopted child about adoption?
Anyone have thoughts or suggestions about how a family would tell a child that they were adopted and what adoption means if the child was adopted at a younger age where they were not able to understand the concept and when it would be appropriate?

If the child is old enough to understand now I still wouldn’t have waited this long to tell him/her. I would have started with bed time stories relating to adoption and gone from there. Not to “beat him/her over the head” with the subject but with both of our kids we have been up front and honest about it from the start so there was never any real “we need to tell you something” moment.
